LASIK (Laser-Assisted in situ Keratomileusis) is a refractive surgery. This means it changes the way light enters the eye, reducing your need for glasses and contacts. LASIK can correct myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness), and astigmatism. During the procedure a thin flap is created in the cornea. The flap is folded back and the cornea is then reshaped with the excimer laser. The flap is then placed back into position on the surface of the cornea.
Dr. Pesavento specializes in All Laser LASIK, using a femtosecond laser to create your flap. This eliminates the need for a steel microkeratome resulting in a blade free surgery. The excimer laser is a WaveLight ® Allegretto Wave ® laser. This state of the art laser offers patients the very best in visual outcomes.
At Southside Center for Sight, both your preoperative evaluation and postoperative examinations will be conducted by Dr. Pesavento. If you think LASIK may be for you, please call to schedule your free no risk consultation. Patients over 50 may also be interested in a lens based refractive procedure called a Refractive Lens Exchange. This is essentially cataract surgery performed before the natural lens has developed a cataract. Call Dr. Pesavento to schedule an appointment to discuss your options.
