Dr. Pesavento has extensive experience with the medical management of common retinal diseases. Southside Center for Sight is equipped with state of the art equipment to help manage retinal conditions including high definition spectral domain optical coherence tomography (OCT) and fluorescein angiography. This equipment cannot reveal information about the retinal anatomy and blood flow that can be visualized with a regular examination.

Laser surgery can be performed in the office when indicated for many of these conditions. Dr. Pesavento is also well trained in the use of intravitreal injections to treat macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy (as well as some other retinal disease). Intravitreal injections allow a highly targeted treatment to be directed at blocking bleeding and leaking blood vessels in the retina.
